Gus & Ollies is a relaxed café situated on Rushworth’s High Street, a spot that fits neatly into the rhythm of this small town. Known for its balance of indoor seating and a generous, shaded outdoor courtyard, it’s a place locals and visitors alike turn to for unhurried breakfasts and casual lunches, especially when the sun is out and the air is warm.

The café’s menu leans comfortably into modern breakfast and brunch favorites with a creative twist — think breakfast burritos, pulled pork eggs benedict, and Turkish eggs with toast. There’s a noticeable effort toward offering options for different dietary needs, including gluten-free toasties and dairy alternatives, which broadens its appeal for a diverse crowd. The food comes across as thoughtfully prepared rather than flashy, pairing well with the café’s steady draw for those seeking solid comfort food alongside their coffee.

Speaking of coffee, Gus & Ollies doesn’t disappoint. They serve their espresso made with quality A1 coffee beans, and it holds up well as a common calling card for both regulars and road-trippers passing through. Many visitors find themselves lingering over a soy flat white or grabbing a takeaway treat like their orange muffins or berry Danish pastries, which complement the coffee without overwhelming it.

The atmosphere strikes a careful balance between casual and welcoming. It’s neither too busy nor too quiet, supporting conversations that range from weekday catch-ups to relaxed weekend family visits. Dog owners will appreciate the cafe’s puppy-friendly courtyard, a detail that hints at its community-minded approach. On weekends or sunny afternoons, the outdoor area fills up with a mix of locals enjoying slow mornings and travelers stopping in for a break from the road.

Gus & Ollies works well for anyone looking for a no-fuss café experience in a small-town setting — especially for those who appreciate friendly, attentive staff and a menu with fresh, straightforward choices. Its mix of indoor tables and a leafy outdoor spot means the best time to come depends on your mood: a quiet retreat with a book inside on cooler days, or a social brunch under the trees when the weather invites.

Lovely atmosphere, nice range of food toasties up to breakfast plates, coffee and cakes. A great stopover on a road trip. Plenty of GF options.

Coffee is good. Space for about 10-12 tables. Half indoor / half outdoor. Will be back with my family. Got a takeaway Hot Cross bun which looks scrumptious! Came back again for a road trip. Look at those Brookies (Cookies!) worth the trip from Melbourne for the day.

Excellent coffee beans but soy is now the cheap brand that masks the coffee taste but other styles are still exceptional. The bean roaster is tops! The food is well presented and delicious with good options for a non meat eater. They will do food to order if you have dietary requirements away from the traditional Aussie diet (which is a really bad one) . All staff are upbeat, friendly and provide terrific customer service. I was so happy to see a great cafe in Rushworth finally!!! Well done to everyone involved! Today (30/03/2023) The yummy fig jam & orange muffins! It was one of the best I’ve ever eaten as it was moist, light in texture and broke apart easily as real muffins should. Made by Crystal with perfection - thanks! As always a great coffee too!⭐

Great spot for brunch and a coffee. Iced coffee with ice cream delicious. We ate the Turkish eggs and pulled pork eggs Benedict. These were actually great to share together. Brookies look to die for. Lovely menu, would recommend 100%

I visited at lunch time on a Saturday for a coffee and I didn't expect to find anything suitable to eat. I was so delighted to see nearly every item on the menu can be made gluten free and OMG they have a dedicated gf cake cabinet. I had a lovely gf bacon and egg toastie, brookie and a perfect coffee. I bought two more brookies to go. The staff are so lovely and they really understand gf that's safe for coeliac. They're next to the Rushworth market, well worth a visit
